The Silk Road, a great transcontinental route linked the Roman Empire in the West with the imperial reign of China in the East, remains its charm to both of the Chinese and westerners. The starting point of the route was right from Chang'an (the ancient name of Xi'an), the capitals of Tang Dynasty, through the Yellow River valley with Lanzhou, then extended westward along deserts and mountains before dividing into three routes at the oasis of Dunhuang. In ancient times, the route attached merchants from Europe and China to trade silk, tea, porcelains with spicery, jade, ivory and that the name of Silk Road came. Today, the Silk Road is not a popular road of silk trading but the long history, various culture, valuable relics, and brilliant arts offers an unforgettable trip to us.
